Certificate Program

Certified Flight Instructor (CFI)

Share your passion for aviation. Become a Certified Flight Instructor and train the next generation of pilots.

What Can You Do With a CFI?

A Certified Flight Instructor certificate allows you to teach others how to fly. As a CFI, you can:

  • Provide flight instruction and be paid for teaching
  • Sign off students for solo flights and checkrides
  • Conduct flight reviews (BFRs) and instrument proficiency checks
  • Build flight hours quickly toward airline minimums
  • Deepen your own knowledge and become a better pilot

Instructing is one of the most common ways pilots build the flight time needed for airline jobs. You can also add a CFII (instrument instructor) rating to teach instrument students.

FAA Requirements (14 CFR 61.183)
